Help us complete the Athenaeum Digital Collection (Oct 17/25)

Since fall 2022, Archives & Special Collections has been digitizing issues of Acadia’s student newspaper, the Athenaeum, making decades of student perspectives on campus life fully searchable and accessible to the public from anywhere in the world. More than 500 issues are now available online on the Archives & Special Collections digital collections website.
We need your help to finish the project. We are looking for donations of issues of the Ath from 1970 to the present. Our existing copies of the Ath during this era are tightly bound, making them difficult to scan without losing information. We are especially looking for issues from September 1970 through March 1983, but we welcome any issues from this time period.
We are looking for loose issues that are dry and reasonably intact. Worn or marked copies are fine, but we can’t accept water damaged or severely deteriorated issues. After scanning, donated issues may become part of the Archives’ permanent collection.
Please contact us at archives@acadiau.ca or 902-585-1011 to confirm which issues you wish to donate. After hearing back from us, you can drop off donations between 1-4pm in the Archives & Special Collections Research Room from Tuesday to Friday or mail them to Archives & Special Collections, Vaughan Memorial Library, Acadia University, 50 Acadia St, Wolfville, NS B4P 2R6.
Check your attics, basements, and filing cabinets to help preserve Acadia student history for generations to come. Thanks for your support – we couldn’t do this without you!
